Why I love Whistler? Well it is an easy question really and if you have ever been to Whistler then you will know what I mean. I first visited Whistler in 1991. It was considerably different than it is today physically, but the the general feeling about the area has stayed the same. I don’t even think I need to mention the world class skiing and snowboarding on one of the worlds best ski hills, as this is one of the best known things about the area. Two mountains, over 8000 acres of ski-able terrain, the Peak 2 Peak gondola and tons of snow make the mountains sports incredible. Most people generally know about this already and when most people thing of Whistler, they think of the legendary skiing. I want to talk about many of the other things that make Whistler great, things that many visitors who only spend a few days or a week in the fabulous resort may not know.
Whistler is not only a great destination in the Winter, but it is also a great destination in the summer. The weather is warm and dry and is loaded with outdoor activities, something that everyone can enjoy. The popularity of this destination has increased dramatically over the years for the summer months. In fact almost every weekend is sold out now during the summer months and getting a room can prove difficult if you do not plan far enough in advance. The summer is also one of the best times to find a deal. Many people are now starting to realize that taking a vacation or trip can be much more desirable in the less popular time of the year. You can find better rates, less crowding and all sorts of deals and specials anywhere from the gift shops to the restaurants.
If you are an outdoor enthusiast, then you will be excited to hear the options of activities provided year around here. In the summer you can find championship golf courses, an array of lakes and beaches for picnics or swimming, zip-treking, ATV tours, hiking and more. During the winter months, Whistler has so many options other than just skiing. The Tube park is great fun for the whole family and is open into the evening. Horse drawn sleigh rides are available for the whole family or for that special someone on one of the romantic sleigh rides for two. Cross country skiing is popular in the valleys around the main mountains and for the more thrill seeking adventurer, many activities like snowmobiling or heli-skiing provide the adrenaline rush that is sought after by them.
With everything I have mentioned paired with a interesting and well laid out village, it completes the package of a great resort destination. You can find lots of action from busy outdoor cafes and nightclubs, to quiet, upscale or romantic restaurants and lounges. We really do have it all, and have really developed a great place anyone can enjoy. These are just a few of the reason why I love Whistler and it will always have a special place in my heart.
